Specialized Tarmac Road Bikes

Competitive Road

The pinnacle of performance and technology, combined to answer the needs of road racers who demand the very best. Every Tarmac utilizes the most advanced materials available to create speed-tuned frames that traditional designs simply cannot match in performance. Suitable for racing at the highest caliber, including the Tour de France, every Tarmac fuels the passion that drives road riding with a competitive edge.

Key Features
  • All-New Full Carbon Frame
Triple Monocoque chassis (main triangle, seat stays & chain stays) allows for the elimination of bonding lugs. Constructing the frame as a single structure results in a frame that is:
    - Stronger, as stress concentration at the end of the lug is eliminated.
    - More reliable, no chance for bonding problems, poor glue fill and uneven glue thickness around the bond.
    - Better riding, due to more repeatable frame alignment.
    - Lighter, no redundant overlapping structures putting unneeded material in the wrong places. Aesthetics, since there are no bonds, the paint won’t crack down the road. (Bonded joints are famous for paint cracking problems.)
    - The Bottom Line is more strength & stiffness with less weight.

  • Compact Geometry
    - Increased comfort due to more exposed seatpost.
    - Increased efficiency, smaller triangles flex less.
    - Better fit, standover is no longer the leading factor, more sizes available.
    - Reduction in weight, shorter tubes weigh less.
    - Additionally, the Tarmac is available in six sizes (49,52,54,56,58,61), a rare feature in composite bikes.

  • Tubing diameters increase along with frame size. This allows us to build a bike with performance characteristics that are the same regardless of frame size. This keeps the small bikes lighter and the large bikes stiff enough to handle the power of the biggest/strongest riders.

  • The top tube is as much a work of art as it is functional tour de force. The large "H" shaped cross section at the head tube junction provides unreal levels of torsional stiffness. This results in a bike with handling that is scalpel precise and that responds to pedal input without a hint of energy lost to frame twisting. The top tube has an organic curvature that allows for unprecedented vertical compliance resulting in a comfortable, energy conserving ride. The rear portion of the top tub forms another "H" section that straddles the seat tube for enhanced lateral rigidity.

  • The Tarmac’s individual seat stays flow from the top tube and provide a wider, more stable and therefore stiffer and more torsionaly rigid rear triangle while (Additionally this provides a smaller rear triangle which allows us to build a 49cm frame not often found in composite bikes).

  • Ride quality of the Tarmac is enhanced through the seatstay’s hourglass shape and integration of ZERTZ vibration damping technology.

  • Power transmission is maximized with zero excess material through the use of an different lay-up schedule for the left and right chainstays (driveside is under compression, non drive under tension).

  • The Tarmacs down tube profile is matched to the shape of both the bottom bracket shell and the head tube maximizing the surface area of the unions and enhancing the rigidity. It joins the whole package together into one unbelievably stable, blazingly fast, incredibly rigid, astoundingly light, cutting edge road machine.
